This guide provides information for persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBUs), such as employers, on how to manage the risk of violence and aggression in the workplace, including gendered violence.

This guide provides information on preventing and responding to workplace violence and aggression, such as providing a safe physical work environment, safe systems of work and what to do if a violent incident occurs. 

Workplace violence and aggression includes any incident where a person is abused, threatened or assaulted at the workplace or while they are carrying out work, including in person, over the phone or online. 

This guide has information on: 

  • providing a safe work environment 

  • safe systems of work, and 

  • what to do if a violent incident happens. 

It includes examples of: 

  • hazards and risks which may lead to violence in high-risk industries, and 

  • practice control measures to manage health and safety risks.
