Safe Work Australia commissioned Deloitte Access Economics to undertake research exploring the cost of workplace injury and illness in Australia. Using innovative computable general equilibrium (CGE) modelling, the study estimates how much value could be created within the Australian economy by removing work-related injury and illness.

Findings from the study demonstrate the broad economic benefits that can be realised with better work health and safety, including more jobs and better pay.

This summary version of the report includes an infographic version of the key findings. For more information about the data methodology, read the Safer, healthier, wealthier: The economic value of reducing work-related injuries and illnesses – technical report.
