Education to improve work health and safety for food delivery workers

This month we launched the Deliver yourself home safely campaign, to increase awareness of work health and safety for food delivery workers and influence positive safety behaviours.

Sadly, since 2019, 10 food delivery workers have lost their lives at work. No death or injury at work is acceptable and we were tasked by WHS Ministers with strengthening and promoting education around work health and safety to food delivery workers as part of our communication and education function set out in the Safe Work Australia Act 2008

This function allows us to implement campaigns such as this which can positively influence improvement in WHS outcomes.

Informed by extensive market research and with support from a culturally and linguistically diverse agency, the Deliver yourself home safely campaign will run until September.

The campaign website is translated into 6 priority languages (Mandarin, Nepali, Hindi, Vietnamese, Punjabi and Urdu) with a range of resources available including a safety quiz, animations, fact sheets, infographics and a campaign kit.

“I’m really enjoying working with our culturally and linguistically diverse company to ensure this important information gets to the community in their preferred language, and on the channels they actually use. This involves community media, a social media competition, stakeholder engagement through universities and multicultural groups, and in-language social media.”
