2021 – think safe. work safe. be safe.

During October 2021, we asked workplaces to think safe. work safe. be safe. at work by planning and implementing work health and safety procedures.

Think safe—the first step to thinking about work health and safety, which covers the planning and forethought that Persons Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBUs) (such as employers and small business owners) must do to identify risks and maintain healthy and safe workplaces.

Work safe—implementing work health and safety measures to manage risks including the practical steps you can take to reduce risk and avoid workplace incidents.

Be safe—the ongoing process of managing and monitoring work health and safety risks – it is not a one off.

Key resources from National Safe Work Month 2021:

  • Campaign kit
  • Animations x 4 (think safe. work safe. be safe – Animation, think safe – Animation, work safe – Animation, be safe – Animation)
  • Safety chat over a cuppa

2020 – Work Health and Safety through COVID-19

The 2020 theme, Work Health and Safety through COVID-19, acknowledged and reflected the wide-reaching impacts of COVID-19 on Australian businesses, employers and workers.

Workplaces had to quickly adapt their practices and procedures to reduce the WHS risks arising from COVID-19 and to manage the psychological effects of the pandemic on workers.

The National Safe Work Month theme highlighted the WHS challenges, as well as the positive outcomes brought on by the pandemic and the significant role WHS played and continues to play in keeping workers safe and preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Key resources from National Safe Work Month 2020:

  • Campaign kit
  • NSWM in Focus (poster + social media tile)
  • WHS best practice checklist for employers
  • Keeping WHS a priority in your workplace information sheet
  • Preventing psychological injury at work during COVID-19 information sheet
